Experimentation in Software Engineering,

Abstract

Experimentation in software engineering supports the advancement of the field through an iterative learning process. This paper presents a framework for analyzing most of the experimental work performed in software engineering over the past several years. We describe a variety of experiments in the framework and discuss their contribution to the software engineering discipline. Some useful recommendations for the application of the experimental process in software engineering are included. (Author)
