A Combat Gaming Method for Tank Platoon Leader Training: TRAX 1

Abstract

A combat gaming method (TRAX I) for tactical training is presented. A one-sided controlled method of play is used in TRAX I to train leaders of tank platoons and crews on Division '86 platoon tasks. The game uses the Dunn-Kempf terrain board and components, with rules modified to speed play, simplify player procedures, and include some elements of combat not previously simulated. A controller's Guide, lesson plans for four exercises, and Division '86 mission- task crosswalks are provided to aid implementation of TRAX I in unit training.
