Optoelectronics in the People's Republic of China.

Abstract

During October, 1985, Professor James L. Merz spent a three week period traveling in the People's Republic of China, to visit the major semiconductor research laboratories in Beijing, Changcgun, and 'Shanghai. In addition, Professor Merz was an invited speaker at the Third Chinese Conference on Integrated Optics held in Shanghai on 15-20 October, 1985. This report represents an assessment of current research and the potential for future research in the field of optoelectronics in China prepared as a result of those visits. (Author)
