Ventura County, California Survey Report for Beach Erosion Control. Main Report.

Abstract

The shoreline of Ventura County, California, has been investigated to evaluate the various aspects of beach erosion problems and to determine the extent of federal interest in these problems. The study encompasses Ventura County shoreline from Rincon Points at the Santa Barbara County line down coast to Sequit Point near the Los Angeles County line which this report presents. Analyses of the economic, photographic, and coastal data have determined that, at the present, beach erosion control projects are economically infeasible in all areas, except for the private areas of Oxnard Shores and County Line Beach where projects may be marginally justified upon further investigation. Since no general authorization now exists for Federal participation in private areas, participation in the financing of beach erosion control projects by the Federal Government in Ventura County is precluded.
