Evaluation of the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District Three Dam Proposal. Upper Santa Ana River and Mill Creek.

Abstract

This evaluation proposes a system of three dams on the Santa Ana River and Mill Creek that could provide for flood control, water conservation and hydropower generation. It was found that the most suitable dam type was earthfill for all three sites. Gravity concrete, to include roller compacted concrete (rollcrete) is unsuitable at two sites for geotechnical reasons and noncompetitive cost benefits.
