Cultural Resources Literature Search and Records Review of the Upper Minnesota River Subbasin, Southwestern Minnesota and Northeastern South Dakota. Volume 1.

Abstract

This report is a culmination of a cultural resource literature search and records review of the Upper Minnesota River, northeastern North Dakota and southwestern Minnesota. The objective of this report is that it be used as a planning tool which will aid in the protection of known cultural resources which may be affected by the implementation of the proposed alterations/modifications of tributaries to the Mainsteam Upper Minnesota River. Due to the number of both prehistoric and historic sites found in association with creeks, streams, and rivers in the region, it is recommended that an archaeological field investigation of the project areas be conducted on any proposed alterations, modifications and/or development of any kind relating to this specific project.
