Singer AI Project: Knowledge-Based Vision Algorithm Development.

Abstract

This project was initiated to investigate possible application of Artificial Intelligence concepts to the process of developing image algoritmist decision aid was designed and implemented. All of the project goals were wither met or exceeded. Additional funding is need to fully implement the system defined in this project and integrate it into ERIM's Cyto HSS. The motivation for this project was based on three major factors. First, the development of machine vision algorithms is the current bottleneck in the integration of vision technolgies into application areas. Second, the process of developing such algorithms is currently viewed as an art practiced by only a handful of well-seasoned machine vision experts. Third, and last, Artificial Intelligence techniques have been successfully applied in similar situations in other areas. Keywords: Computer programs; Heuristic methods; Scenarios.
