Analysis of Aerial Photography from Array II (1980).
Abstract
Aerial photography was collected in 1980 over Camp Adair, Oregon, in a pilot operation preceding larger scale tests. The photography was acquired by Mohawk OV-1D aircraft equipped with the KA-76 camera. The imagery was analyzed for its usefulness in detecting minefields. The importance of background types and sun elevation angle is discussed. Specular reflection off surface-laid mines is suggested as a significant factor in detection. Shadows cast by surface-laid mines were found to be important cues for detection. (Author)
