Studies of Powdered Metal Sintering and Applications to Combustion Diagnostics.

Abstract

The sintering process for bronze materials is described. Its application to the fabrication of flat flame burners, hemi-head burners and flow meters are detailed. Conclusions regarding porosity, mechanical strength and linearity are drawn based on the measurements. The burners described represent a significant improvement over the state-of-the-art commercial burner in their ability to operate at temperature up to 300 C, as required by flame systems such as formaldehyde N20. With slight modification, the flowmeters will operate in the same regime. Keywords: Flat-flame burners, Hemi-head burners, and Porous bronze.
