The Impact of Local Labor Market Factors on Army Reserve Accessions.

Abstract

This thesis analyses the impact of local labor market forces on Army Selected Reserve accessions in the period FY 83-85. Accession data from the Defense Manpower Data Center was broken down to zip code level and then aggregated upwards to local market counts. These counts were then merged with similarly aggregated economic data from the Defense Manpower Data Center DORIS database. The resulting file was analysed using Ordinary least squares (OLS) regression techniques to identify characteristics of potentially high yield Reserve recruiting markets. keywords: Manpower, Army reserves, Supply models.
