Automated Ultrasonic Inspection of Aramid (Kevlar) Composite PASGT Helmets Feasibility Study.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine feasibility of using ultrasonic nondestructive inspection on compression molded aramid (Kevlar) composite helmets. Results indicated detection capability for internal discontinuities voids & delaminations. Detection of number of layers of aramid does not show much promise.
