Effect of Ageing Temperature on the Mechanical and Stress Corrosion Properties of Carpenter Custom 455 Stainless Steel.

Abstract

Tensile, impact fracture toughness and stress corrosion properties of CC 455 alloy steel were determined on bar stock for four different heat treatment conditions. Although mechanical property results showed good agreement with those obtained by other workers, stress corrosion tests on smooth tensile test pieces in failures at stresses similar to and lower than those previously reported.
