An Integrated Theory of Discourse Analysis,

Abstract

This paper explores some difficult questions related to topics in discourse analysis and offer a partial solution to some of them. In particular, the author addresses the issue of levels in discourse analysis and how the various approaches taken within the field can be classified according to a leveled model. He considers an approach he has been pursuing for representing the semantics of discourse, and considers how it fits in to the proposed model for discourse analysis. Finally, he describes the implementation of a system which models the behavior of the proposed model. Keywords: artificial intelligence; model theory.
