Synthesis of New Agents for Drug-Resistant Malarias.
Abstract
A total of one thousand five hundred and sixty two (1,562) compounds have been synthesized and submitted to Walter Reed for antimalarial evaluation. The current status of the major structural classes of compounds is reviewed and summaries of biological data and brief text to clarify the tables are included. Those series in which future effort may still be beneficial towards the development of antimalarial drugs are also included. A tabulations organized by chemical class which lists the WRAIR BN, the AM designation, the name and specific reference to an annual report and a tabulation of the AM number and the chemical structure for all compounds submitted are included.
