Control of the Surface Composition of Isothermal Vapor Phase Epitaxial Mercury Cadmium Telluride,

Abstract

A method is described for controlling the surface composition of mercury cadmium telluride during isothermal vapor phase epitaxy (ISOVPE) of mercury cadmium telluride. The method employs a three phase solid-liquid-vapor source in equilbrium with the desired composition. The thermodynamic and kinetic basis of the method is outlined.
