Nonlocal Continuum Description of Lattice Dynamics and Applications

Abstract

By means of a sampling theorem, the passage is made from lattice dynamics to nonlocal elasticity. Foundations of nonlinear (and linear) nonlocal elasticity is established on the basis of the nonlocal actions in continuum theory. The solutions are presented for the problems of screw-dislocation, anti- plane line crack and point defect in an elastic solid. Agreements with the atomic results and experiments are remarkable.
