MK 16 Mod O Underwater Breathing Apparatus: Manned and Unmanned Canister Duration.

Abstract

The CO2 absorbent canister duration of the MK 16 closed-circuit Underwater Breathing Apparatus (URA) was evaluated using manned and unmanned testing procedures. The results demonstrated that the MK 16 is capable of supporting the diver to the limit line of the HVAL21 constant .7 pp02 He02 Decompression Table in temperatures 4.4 C (40F) and above. The only exception is the 40 FSW for 370 min profile, which is restricted to 300 min. Keywords: Partial pressure; Carbon dioxide absorbent; Closed-circuit underwater breathing apparatus; Canister duration; Oxygen consumption; Helium oxygen breathing gases.
