Army Strategic Mobility System Assessment (ASMSA).

Abstract

A feasibility study was conducted to determine whether an automated system could be developed to assist the Strategic Mobility Division (SMD, DCSLOG, in carrying out its mission requirements. These mission requirements include creating reports on the status of the strategic mobility system and timely interaction with the Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution System (PPBES). Five analytic options for a decision support system are developed which could, in varying degrees, fulfill SMD's mission requirements. Six strategies are presented for implementing the various analytic options. These range from using already developed models on currently standard computer hardware to developing new models using emerging hardware and software technology. Keywords: Logistics; Transportation System.
