Computerization of the Preliminary Pollutant Limit Value Concept.

Abstract

The Preliminary Pollutant Limit Value (PPLV) model developed by the U.S. Army Medical Bioengineering Research and Development Laboratory is an attempt to describe the environmental pathways through which humans may be exposed to toxic chemicals that have escaped into the environment. The model estimates the uptake/transformation of the compound at each step in each pathway, and arrives at a preliminary limit value in the environment for the compound of concern based on toxicological considerations. This report describes development of an interactive version of the PPLV model. Keywords: toxic agents; computer programs; toxic tolerance.
