Radiation Transport in a Nitrogen Plasma General Formalism and 1- Dimensional Model

Abstract

A time dependent, multi-line radiative transfer model is developed for a hot nitrogen plasma. The approach relies on a probablistic treatment for propagating photons. While spectra line transfer is emphasized continuum radiation is also accounted for. The model is valid for nonequilibrium conditions. As a first application, the approach is used to describe 1 dimensional transport in two model problems. Keywords: Time dependent; Radiative transfer; Nitrogen plasma; Intense electron beams.
