Glider TOW Release Performance Evaluation.

Abstract

Tests have been tests were conducted on release mechanisms fitted to both towing aeroplanes and gliders representative of those commonly in use in Australia. These tests were developed from various airworthiness requirements in order to establish the relationship between the force required to operate the release and the tow cable load. Factors influencing the release force required were identified. Keywords: Towing cables; Towing aircraft.
