Development of Environmental Guidelines for Multipurpose Range Complexes. Volume 1. Application Test and Environmental Management Plan Development.

Abstract

This report describes the results of a demonstration test conducted at Fort Riley, KS, of various technologies developed to manage natural resources and reduce the effects of training activities from the new Multipurpose Range Complex (MPRC). The test results provided comprehensive data about the installation's resources and the effects of training activities on them. The information was used as the basis for developing a land management/maintenance plan for Fort Riley that will extend the MPRC's life and reduce adverse effects on the land. The plan emphasizes erosion control and revegetation. With site-specific modification, the methods used to develop the plan can be used at other installations that will be constructing the MPRCs. Volume II of this report provides details on the field tests, sediment yields study, and management option analysis.
