Methods for Improving Software Quality and Life Cycle Cost.

Abstract

The report characterizes a comprehensive and integrated standardized software engineering identifies tools, techniques, standards, models, and metrics for each and every phase of the software life cycle; assesses the state-of-the-art of all elements of the environment to identify R&D requirements for the US Air Force. The report identifies a near-term software engineering environment consisting of off-the-shelf tools and techniques, which may be implemented as is or with minor modification and proposes a time-phased R&D plan for major modification, development, and integration of all identified elements leading to a longer-term comprehensive environment.
