Test of Fortran Program for Sound Scattering by Layered Sphere.

Abstract

The Fortran program ONION calculates the target strength of a layered sphere whose elements are represented by the exact linear equations of acoustics, elastodynamics and viscodynamics. Both single and double precision versions are available on a VAX-11/785 computer. Numerical results of sound scattering, by an empty/water-filled steel sphere with/without an outer compliant coating, demonstrate that the program is a useful research tool.
