A Calibration Procedure for a Coherent Polarimetric Radar,

Abstract

A calibration scheme is described for a coherent scattering matrix radar to correct for non-ideal antenna polarisation characteristics and amplitude and phase inbalance between the receiver and transmitter channels. Calibration is achieved by measuring the receiver voltages corresponding to scattering the transmitted states from trihedral and dihedral reflectors. Neither the absolute nor relative phase of the calibration targets need to be known. (Great Britain)
