Abstract

This paper is written as a guide to expeditions by snowmobile on the West Coast of James Bay based on experience from Trail Run, 1986. Access, accommodations, rail transportation, terrain, snow cover, ice conditions, communication, polar bears, the performance of snowmobiles and sledges and other pertinent subjects are examined.
