Performance Test of 110 mm Bore Ball Bearing Made from Corrosion Resistant Powdered Steel.

Abstract

This final technical report summarizes the results of a 100-hour bearing performance test using an advanced corrosion resistant bearing steel. Three 110 mm bore mainshaft jet engine ball bearings made from MR2001 (produced by powder metallurgy) were refinished, and a performance test was completed on one of them. Testing performed under the current program demonstrated the ability of a full-scale jet engine bearing to operate under application conditions. Details of the testing and equipment are included in the report.
