Semiclassical Theory of Inelastic Scattering of a Particle in the Near-Adiabatic Limit.

Abstract

A mathematically rigorous theory of the inelastic scattering of a heavy particle by a harmonic oscillator is presented. The model has implications for atom surface scattering and chemical reactions.
