First Article Qualification Testing of F-15 Conformal Fuel Tank Container and Installation Kit Container for Contract F3657-84-C-0159.
Abstract
As required by Contract No. F33657-84-C0159, one each F-15 Conformal Fuel Tank (CFT) and CFT Installation Kit Containers, NSN No. 8115-01-157-0029, were submitted by Riverport Industries, New Albany, Indiana for first article testing by the Air Force Packaging Evaluation Agency (AFPEA), Wright-Patterson AFB OH, 45433-5999. Rough Handling tests in accordance with Federal Test Method Standard 101 C, a physical configuration audit and a visual inspection were conducted on the two containers. A fit and function test was performed on the Conformal Fuel Tank Container. After completion of the test, a visual inspection indicated limited physical damage to the containers. It was concluded that physical damage to future containers could be greatly reduced or eliminated by strict adherence to the TPO requirements. (Author)
