Analysis and Applications of a 10 GHz Gunnplexer Transceiver.

Abstract

Data obtained by laboratory measurements are presented for TR10GA 10 GHz Gunnplexer transceivers (marketed for the amateur radio market). Data presented include frequency vs tuning voltage curves over a fifteen degree centigrade temperature range for three Gunnplexer voltagr controlled oscillators, and frequency response measurements of the Gunnplexer mixer output and filter and amplifier sections of the transceiver. Doppler radar and spread spectrum digital communication are demonstrated using the TR10GA and it's Gunnplexer front end. Increased immunity to jamming and interference of spread spectrum communication is demonstrated, illustrating the concept of processing gain. Design details of additional circuits required to demonstrate digital communication and spread spectrum applications of the TR10GA are presented to allow duplication of this demonstration. The circuits described are designed to use the same power supply as the TR10GA.
