Knowledge-Based Automatic Test Program Generator for the Abbreviated Test Language for all Systems.

Abstract

This thesis was undertaken to develop a prototype knowledge-based automatic test program generator (ATPG) for the Abbreviated Test Language For All Systems (ATLAS) which contains a newly developed heuristic approach to finding a near optimal ordering of tests. The ATPG is an interactive editor which will aid the ATE software analyst. The environment should aid in keeping software current and accurate by reducing the time involved in software maintenance and modification. In addition, it will automate the computational tasks that affect efficiency of a test program. The ATPG uses user input knowledge, consistency knowledge, and ATPG knowledge to produce ATLAS programs that are effective and efficient. The prototype was developed for Warner Robins Air Logistics Center (WRALC) in conjunction with Rome Air Development Center (RADC). It implements selected tests from the Converter-Programmer Power Supply of the F-15 aircraft. Initial tests of the prototype are promising and further evaluation will take place at WRALC and Logistics Command Headquarters. Keywords: Repair; Aircraft; Maintenance; Artificial intelligence.
