Aircrew/Missile Training Devices Contractor Support Study.

Abstract

This report presents an introduction to Air Force Aircrew/Missile Training Devices (A/MTD), a review of the traditional support concepts, and the new support initiatives and related events. The background of Aircrew/Missile Training Devices is discussed with the impact, alternatives and opportunities presented by the new support initiatives. An Implementation Guide with requirements and issues is presented with considerations for selecting and prioritizing systems for directed conversion to contract support and recommendations for the phase out of resources. A list of research documents and information used for the report is provided along with tentative conversion schedules and charts. The source of scheduling information is the A/MTD Inventory and Scheduling System which was developed as a tool to determine the inventory of A/MTDs and embedded computer systems. It is an integrated, multi-dimensional description of A/MTD support requirements and conversion schedules covering FY85 through FY92. The data base consists of nearly 1100 records containing inventory and support information for over 800 training devices, 1380 embedded computers, 100 training related activities, and almost 3000 manning authorizations. Keywords: Simulators, Trainers.
