Automated Aircrew Scheduling within the Strategic Air Command: An Indictment - A Solution.

Abstract

The potential for increasing the effectiveness of aircrew training within the Strategic Air Command through more effective scheduling is reviewed, and a case is made that automated assistance is required to achieve any significant improvements. Following an exploration of the failure of the Strategic Air Command to develop such a capability, guidelines for future development efforts are offered. A description of the Scheduling Assistance System developed during the research as a feasibility demonstration model for automated aircrew scheduling is presented. The author concludes that an automated scheduling system is both necessary and feasible. Keywords: SAS(Scheduling Assistanc System). (Author)
