Automotive Winches

Abstract

This TOP describes the procedures for evaluating the performance and endurance of automotive winches that are accessory items on tracked and wheeled vehicles. Also included are soldier operator-maintainer testing and evaluation (SOMTE) in connection with functional tests of winches, endurance testing, logistic supportability testing, and human factors evaluation. Winches associated with warehouse cranes are covered in TOP 9-2-063; and those with power cranes and shovels are covered in MTP 9-2-064.
