Abstract

This study examines the areas of conflict that exist between the two NATO 'allies' Greece and Turkey and the effect that their relationship has on NATO's Southern Flank. Following the introduction, the study looks at the background to the Greek-Turkish relations before examining the Cyprus problem and its consequences for NATO. The contentious issues concerning the Aegean are then discussed. The study concludes with a look at present difficulties and prospects for the future.
