The Engine-Generator Set Database. Version II. (GENII).
Abstract
This document explains how to install and operate the Generator Sets database and GENII (GENerator sets II), the application program that was developed integrally with the database to provide an inquiry and reporting capability to users unfamiliar with R:base operation. The Generator Sets database contains technical data on over 900 commercially available and military standard generator sets potentially suitable for tactical mobile applications in the U.S. Army. This information was assembled by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) through a data collection effort undertaken for the U.S. Army Belvoir Research, Development and Engineering Center (BELVIOR) under contract DAAK70-84-D-0053, task order 0031. This effort is documented in Expanded Survey and Analysis of the Engine-Generator Set Database, SAIC Report no. 87/1006, 27 February, 1987. An earlier survey effort, also undertaken by SAIC under contract to BELVOIR, resulted in a similar database and program called GENSETS. Data from the earlier survey is included in the current database, except where manufacturers have indicated that a particular product was discontinued or replaced. GENII and the database were developed together using R:base System V, a commercial relational database development package which is in use at the Logistics Support Directorate of BELVOIR. Neither can be used independently of System V.
