Improvement of Computer Software Quality through Software Automated Tools.

Abstract

The objective as described in the contract Statement of Work was for the contractor (CSA) to develop a proposed USAF Standard that contains procedures for validating software automated tools. Over time, however, this was modified somewhat such that the proposed standard would be a document to help the AFPRO better understand how the software developer actually uses his tool. In addition, CSA was tasked to examine the utility of the USAF establishing a tool validation facility. CSA was to identify and evaluate existing validated software automated tools to aid in ascertaining the current state-of-the-art process. The data thus derived from this evaluation 'will be used to formulate a standard set of procedures for validating software automated tools.'
