The 1985 Army Experience Survey: Methodology and Recommendations for Future Administrations

Abstract

The 1985 Army Experience Survey (AES) was designed to assess the characteristics and motivations behind enlistment and separation, and the attitudes and experiences of former soldiers. The survey was developed in part to provide information about Army veterans in response to questions raised by the Secretary of the Army, John O. Marsh, Jr. This report is the only volume in the AES report series that provides details of the project background, survey and data preparation methodologies, and recommendations for future administration of veteran surveys.
