Characteristics and Mechanisms in Higher Functions of the Brain.

Abstract

Temporal response characteristics of Class 3 retinal ganglion cells in frog have been studied. They were classified as periodic and non-periodic bursters and non-bursting cells. Analysis of waveforms indicated a high degree of synchrony in the activities of neighboring cells. Computer studies of models of visual perception were carried out, in which reafferent information derived from higher level analyzers is employed to modify afferent sensory patterns. Keywords: Photic responses; Frog tectum; Perception; Reticular formation; Imagery; Photoreceptors; Photosensitivity (Biological).
