Services Information Management System (SIMS) Users' Handbook.

Abstract

The Services Information Management System (SIMS) Users' Handbook was prepared to assist the Air Force Engineering and Services Center (AFESC) to successfully implement and effectively operate SIMS throughout the Air Force. The handbook is primarily intended for use by base-level Services managers, supervisors, and key SIMS administrative personnel, but is also recommended for all base-level Services personnel. The handbook provides a broad overview of SIMS philosophy and operational concepts to ease the transition to automated information management in the Services business. The areas addressed in the handbook include SIMS management concepts, Services' customer commitment philosophy, SIMS hardware and software, operational concepts, SIMS evolution and growth, and potential pitfalls. The handbook is not intended to supersede existing AFESC or MAJCOM guidance, or technical references already available.
