St. Lawrence Seaway. Additional Locks Study. Draft Final Feasibility Report.

Abstract

This report analyzes the need and economic justification for additional improvements to the system to meet the needs of present and future deep-draft commerce and to provide for safe, efficient navigation at these facilities. Investigations were made on: types and levels of historic commodity movements; projections of future commodity movements; carrying capacity of the Great Lakes fleet; capacity of the existing facilities; benefits of alternative plans of improvement; design and cost estimates of additional facilities; and environmental impacts associated with alternative plans of improvement. The recommended plan is for No Action at this time.
