Interservice Technology Transfer of J-79 Jet Engine Mechanic Performance Measures.

Abstract

An Air Force technology for testing J-79 jet engine mechanics was adapted and transferred to the naval services. Significant time and cost savings were realized in this successful prototype venture. Excluding the pretest, the Air Force job performance measurement method required 18 months to develop and cost approximately $143, 000 for contractor service and travel. An additional $107,300 was paid for civilian employee and active duty labor and travel. Transfer of the Air Force JPMS required only 6 months and cost approximately $53,500. Contract salaries, travel, and other expenses totaled $46,000. Civilian and active duty man hours and travel accounted for approximately $7,500. Keywords: Testing technology, interservice work.
