Gravity Wave Momentum at Poker Flat Using the Symmetrical Two-Beam Method.

Abstract

Measurements of the gravity wave momentum flux have been carried out using the Poker Flat radar and the symmetrical two-beam method. The results for an eight-day averaging period give flux values between + or- 1 m-sq/sec-sq within a valid altitude range of 9 to 15 km. These results are reasonably consistent with the few similar measurements available. Keywords: Gravity wave momentum; Fluxes; symmetrical two beam method.
