Cost Estimating Relationships for Fighter Aircraft

Abstract

This thesis presents Cost Estimating Relationships (CERs) for fighter aircraft. Since the fighter aircraft is one of the most important tactical weapon systems, it is very useful to establish CERs solely for fighter aircraft. Using the public data on U.S. fighter aircraft, Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) is used as the primary statistical method of establishing CERs. The data collection techniques and adjustments used are discussed, and simple and multiple linear regressions are performed on various combinations of the explanatory variable. This thesis then shows that CERs based on new fighter aircraft data are more reliable than those based on new and old fighter aircraft data. Keywords: Equations; Statistical regression analysis.
