Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) Repair in Mustard-Resistant Bacteria
Abstract
Five strains of bacteria were tested for their sensitivity to ultraviolet (UV) radiation and subsequent excision repair capability. Also, a suitable liquid holding medium was developed that permitted excision repair but no cell division for a considerable period of time. The three strains which were isolated from soil on the basis of their resistance to mustard showed enhanced resistance to UV.
