The New Generation of 673 Kelvin Microwave Noise Standards,

Abstract

A new generation of waveguide microwave noise standards is now in service. The general outlines of the design are sufficiently well established to make the production of similar standards operating between 2 and 40 GHz, in wavebands other than those mentioned, largely a matter of routine. The existing standards are an improvement on the previous generation because they have been more fully investigated thermally, are demountable and most important of all are essentially broadband.
