Initial Investigation of Leakage from Waveguide Flanges with Sealing Gaskets,

Abstract

The finger shim is effective in reducing the rf leakage from a rectangular WG16 flange. For a good flat flange, the finger shim reduces the leakage about 30dB. Compression gaskets, of either copper or aluminum, are more than 20dB better than the finger shim. Other commercially available plain gaskets are similarly effective.
