On the Numerical Modelling of a Magnetic Source (Abridged),

Abstract

A scheme is described in which a magnetic source is modelled, from field measurements, by a multipole distribution, the fields of which are determined recursively. Further, the concept of an extended multipole source is introduced in which the multipole density distribution function is defined by a polynomial along a finite length line parallel to the x axis. The first derivative, with respect to the non linear positional parameters, for the above source models is given.
