Space Charge Limited and Temperature Limited Electron Flow in the Vicinity of Edges and Conical Points.

Abstract

Similarity solutions for electron flow in the neighborhood of edges (cylindrical corners) and points are found. Boundary conditions on the cathode giving space limited and temperature limited flow are used. The results show the scaling of density, potential and current density with distance from the singularity as a function of corner angle (cone angle). The results are expected to be useful in initializing trajectories in simulation codes for various designs involving sharp corners and points.
