Production of Jet Fuel Samples from Light Cycle Oil and Light Pyrolysis Oil.

Abstract

Work under this program was directed toward production of test fuel samples from light cycle oil (LCO) and light pyrolysis fule oil (LPFO) feedstocks. The processing sequence used to produce three samples involved hydrodesul furization of LCO followed by high-pressure batch hydrogenation over sulfided nickel/molybdenum catalyst to achieve a desired aromatic content of 20, 30 and 45 percent. LPFO was hydrostabilized over nickel on silicalalumina catalyst followed by high-pressure batch hydrogenation over nickel/molybdenum catalyst to achieve an aromatic content of 30 percent. Four test samples in excess of 2000 gallons were produced and delivered in bulk and in drums as specified.
